8/14/2015 Cost estimate added below8/14/2015 Updated Proposal:drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BwcJ7TgJIyiyfkl0bFMxMHpPYXFWSml2M2haTENhRU9tcHdzYmlCRTFzaVl4QkhoOVVVM3M&usp=sharing----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been working on getting a sink for Hospitality. But getting a sink is not a stand-alone project; it requires buying a cabinet, which starts to intersect with kitchen design. Nathan suggested I check with Tim Spriggs, and Tim sent me this proposal. He says: ------------------------------------- I need to double check the measurements. This is an idea of how I viewed the space, By adding two wing walls, and extending the middle wall down. it creates a natural walk way on both sides of the center wall into the kitchen. It also hides the kitchen from the church. Most important, the island is on wheels, it will most often be against the wall. Only on pot lucks and dinners will it be pulled away for the wall, if necessary. I believe the kitchen side is very flexible. The most important aspect was creating two working stations with counter tops. I was thinking two frigs on the end of each counter top run. I believe I could get a good price on granite for the island, The kitchen will just be laminate tops from the Depot. The island also can just be a big table on wheels too. (cost effective) I need to get back into the building, maybe later today. I should update the drawings if you like them by tomorrow. -------------------------------------- drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BwcJ7TgJIyiyfnBqYnpPLWxqOWZGRXZkX3hBOElKSHgwNlpqdlB5N3BRRHJmaFF0Q0NkbGM&usp=sharingI think we need to make a decision on whether this general layout is the one we are working toward long term, in order to make a decision about what we are doing about the sink now. Does anyone have any input on this?

That looks really nice!
I can't quite tell... Are there doors leading back to the kitchen area on either side of the island? Or a gap?
Also, do we have a plan for where we are going to store folding tables? I thought that somewhere in this area would make the most sense, but it doesn't seem like there would be enough space to move anything that large in or out.
The only thing missing that would eventually be nice to have is a way to curtain off the front of the entire area. This would allow people to set up or clean up the island counter without causing distraction, as well as "close" the area during the service.

It is a gap, not doors. I think it has to be not completely closed in for HVAC reasons. In my mind, that room to the west is the best option for storing tables, but I am not sure about the feasibility of moving them through the multiple doorways & corners. At one point Dave talked about having storage in the NW corner of the sanctuary, between the stage and the and the wall with window cutout. Maybe behind a partition or something. Those are good thoughts.

Tim said if we like the concept he can update the drawings with the exact dimensions of the space, and also give us some cost estimates.
If we want to move ahead with this, we need to get those drawings & estimates from him and then make sure the plan will be okay as far as codes & HVAC I guess.
Then, assuming that is all fine, we would need to ask Wheaton to approve it.
I assume we will have to do this in several small stages, over the next year or more. But the first stage -- getting the sink & its section of cabinets in -- should be able to be done by Sept 6, Tim said.

More from Tim, including cost estimate below. The total for the section with just the sink is $777, plus about another $110 for the counter top I priced at Home Depot. The sink, faucet and filter add about another $800, plus any plumbing materials expenses.
-------------------------------------------------------------- The cabinets are a white painted, door style is Shaker. All plywood construction, with maple dovetail drawer box construction. The drawers are with full extension, under mount glides.
cost is right at $1500.00 tax and delivery included.
If you decided to go cheaper, you can, it will not hurt my feelings. I am very happy to help any way that I can.

How much are the individual sink, faucet and filter? I have saved a lot of money on jobs sourcing those items from various online sources. I wouldn't mind giving it a look.
