We should keep updates on Construction/Bidding/Subcontractors etc. here to keep people in the loop of progress.

I talked with the College today to get all the details on their requirements regarding Dumpster placement. After that I got a 20 yard dumpster placed so we could begin demolition of the stage and sound booth. We met (Ken Schrock, TimSpriggs, Darren Ralph, and Jonathan Bagnall) at the new space in the early afternoon and began demolition. By 8:30 pm we filled up about 3/4 of a 20 yard dumpster (a significant amount of debris) and the stage and sound booth were no more. Char and Lou Horner stopped by a little later in the evening and helped with waste removal and clean up. Everyone worked hard and accomplished a ton today. I wasn't sure how long people would be around today or how much we would finish, but it turned out incredibly well. Thanks Everyone who helped!
After things got started today I slipped out to get some supplies. In the process I setup our church tax free status with Home Depot. An email was sent to the church office with a printable sheet people can use at Home Depot for the tax Free status. It is a different letter than the Letter we normally use.
I also stopped by the Trades offices at the college and met with the HVAC Foreman, Chris Wagner, to introduce myself and discuss HVAC controls and the loud pump. He is a very nice gentleman and here is what I learned:
1. There are no internal controls to adjust the temperature in any of our spaces. All controls are regulated via their computer and can be scheduled to run at the times we use the space.
2. He usually updates the timing schedules on Thursday evening or Friday. We can have a set schedule based on our regular needs and send him an email whenever something outside of those times requires HVAC beyond the minimum threshold. I had him put on the AC today and the system responded pretty rapidly.
3. The pump making the noise will not be replaced until next year. It is a very big and expensive job. They have a grant coming in to replace the pump and all of the accompanying work, but it is going to be a while. Apparently that pump is only used in the Summer for the AC and doesn't run in the cooler months.
I also talked with Tony Dawson today and he has submitted the Key request and is on top of working on out items. We discussed the asbestos in the space and there are some people from the college, apparently experts with asbestos, who are on vacation but will be overseeing preparing the space. Also, Service Master cleaned the carpet in the large carpeted kids room this evening.

I met with a carpentry subcontractor as well as an electrician in our new space. We are pursuing building an all new stage and scrapping the old. The current stage construction is cost prohibitive to properly fix. For a fairly similar cost we can build one new and know that it is sound.
I discussed our needs and concerns with the electrician and he displayed very good understanding. He has done churches around the country and understands the unique needs. He and I walked the space yesterday and even went up to check out above the ceiling. He said that the ceiling is very well supported and can be walked across fine; he has worked in many similar spaces.
I met the electrician again today with the Electrical Foreman from Wheaton College. The Foreman was very helpful. Here are highlights from the visit:
1. The college already updated the internals in the sanctuary light fixtures.
2. He has a background with the fire department and will have someone out tomorrow, most likely, working on exit signs, checking existing electrical issues, etc. He seemed to have a very good grasp on what
3. He showed us all existing panels throughout the building and discussed how we can pull new circuits to the space, etc. He also gave the electrician his blessing to do the things we discussed.
4. I pointed out the loudness coming from the radiator and we tracked it back to pump #2. He gave me the name of the HVAC Foreman and called him. Before I left the space, the college already had guys checking it out.
5. He pointed out that we should get a key to the Mechanical room where our main circuit breaker is in case a breaker trips during the service. He gave me the key number and I have already called in a request
I saved the best part for last- The electrician told me today that God directed him to do the electrical work for us at the cost of materials. That is like getting a 90% discount! Go God!
