I just wanted to start a thread to push brainstorming ideas for a sound booth. I have nothing specific to post here myself yet, although I plan to sketch ideas.
I think there are currently 3 possibiliites for a short-term soundbooth solution
1- utilize the existing soundbooth structure that exists in the new building
2 - use the current sound cart until time/funds allow construction of a new booth
3 - build a custom sound booth to meet our needs that will hopefully last our whole time at this building
1 is okay, but the structure is definitely larger than it needs to be and, from what I have heard, poorly constructed
I would prefer NOT 2. The sound cart as is is not really as usable as I would like. There is little storage, it looks clunky and unprovessional, and it leaves a lot of wires and plugs too easily accessible.
So this thread is mainly about 3. We need to think about what we'd need or want in a sound booth, talk about dimensions, storage solutiosn, etc. Do we know anyone capable of building a small structure like this out of wood?
If you have design ideas, please share.

I would like a significant amount of rack space so we can utilize all of our existing gear, plus start to put our 8 channel compressor to use. I want to be able to have a couple areas for this gear. One that is lockable and not easy for anyone to just tweak at a whim- The compressor would reside here as well as the room rack plus that EQ's the room. People messing with these after they are set can cause big issues. However, they need to be available when changes need to be made. We could also add multi-channel eq or sonic maximizers to this space. Another area of rack space should be readily accessible for anything that needs to be regularly adjusted, like reverb.
