From Jack Urban:
Lighting - Both the congregation and platform areas. The congregation areas should be dark enough so folks will not feel like they are on display when they worship yet bright enough to see. I personally feel the platform should be brighter than the congregation area to allow the congregation to focus yet not show biz like which the WLs look like performers rather than co-worshipers. Inexpensive lighting options kind of like Chipolte or St Arbucks, (Starbucks). Possible stage lighting for the platform. If $$$ are available.
Flooring - A good carpet is worth much in the value of warmth, comfort, and sound control.
Walls and Ceiling - Painted with subdued deep rich colors, darker ceiling sprayed to hide ugly pipes etc.
Platform Backdrop - Something organic that mirrors who we are and what we believe. Two large screens for the projectors and a centerpiece (possibly the church leaf logo w/ the slogan, "God is Alive".)
Band Setup - Spread across the entire platform, Riser for Drums and maybe Keyboards. Video teleprompters for lyrics and music to minimize stand clutter. "Organic vibe".
Sound - Fly the main speakers and add side fills and subs for good coverage and response. Finish the sound booth with either paneling and trim or drywall.
Monitors - figure out how to incorporate our present system to the longer distance. (I have ideas if needed.)
Projection - Verify that our current projectors have sufficient output for the new room. Determine adequate screen size for optimum viewing.
Hanging Sofets and Architecture - Steve has friends that could offer suggestions on what could work here. There may be code and safety issues to deal with.
Cafe` - Fun organic design like a coffee bar or cute restaurant. Possibility Tim Springs would have some valuable input, he is a pro kitchen designer, or Tim Pollard from Elgin Vineyard, he is a high end cabinet maker and designer.
Space Acoustics - Something to think about eventually but lets get in there, crank it up, and see what the room needs. My opinion at least.
