So, I realize that we are all working towards the same goals for how to make the best use of this space that God has provided us. However, I'm concerned that if we try to plan too far into the future for really high goals we won't be able to meet the short term goal of just getting in the space. With that in mind, I'd like to suggest that we try to narrow our discussion from now on to planning what we need to do in order to actually move into the space.
Would everyone be on board with moving out of the brainstorming phase and into the nitty gritty of making this work?

In this thread Mike posted the original timeline, and then Leslie responded. She basically asked people what is realistic as far as next steps/timeline go. No one responded. I agree with you Lauren. I think we need to decide this week (1) which stage location is the first choice; (2) if the Kids Church space use proposal is accepted; and (3) the layout/use plan for the office. I asked in another thread if there were barriers to making these decisions this week. No one responded. We don't have to have all the details of the final plan, either what it will look like in August or what it will look like someday, to make these decisions. But I do understand that we need to know if a particular stage location can accommodate all the features we would like to have in the room, and to get a general idea of the traffic flow & feel of the room. But, for instance, we know the Stage on West Wall design can accommodate a Welcome Center. There is disagreement about whether it should be SW corner, south wall to the east of the door, or NE corner. We don't have to make that decision now. We just have to know there are options for fitting it in somewhere. For Kids Church space, there are 2 questions that DO HAVE TO BE ANSWERED in order to approve the use plan. (1) Can we add a (permanent) wall in the large room to divide the nursery from the Elementary class? (2) Within the new Nursery, can we take down the existing walls? Ideally Project (1) would be done in August. Project (2) does not need to be done until Phase II (once we are at 20% growth in the nursery/young toddler class). However, if either of these projects is not acceptable to the landlord, we will have to completely redo the room use plan for Kids Church. I have asked how we go about getting these questions answered, and haven't gotten any answers. Do we have to talk to someone at Wheaton? Do we have to have an architectural drawing of what we want to do?

As far as I understand it, they do not have to be full blown stamped architectural drawings.

After visiting the building today, we changed the plan. No walls will be moved in the making of the Kids Church space.
So, if Nathan & Ken feel confident taking down the partition in the PreK room, the kids area space use plan seems to be set.
